Gimenelles - Sant Jaume dels Domenys

RURAL HOTEL. The house dates from the mid 18th century and has been transformed into a small rural hotel situated close to the town of St. Jaume dels Domenys at the heart of the Penedès wine region. From its privileged position between the Sierra de Gimenelles and the sea the house has a commanding view of the Penedès plain and also allows for a less humid climate than on the coast. The house is surrounded by a wall whose original purpose was for defence, and inside which there are two gardens: one at the entrance and another at the side of the house with a covered porch area and a pond. Outside the walls there is another green area and the car park both facing the sea and also enjoying magnificent panoramic views down to the sea. The nearest public swimming pool is located 2 km away in St Jaume dels Domenys and the from the house the beaches stretching from El Roc de Sant Gaietà to Vilanova i La Geltrú can easily reached. The house has a small shop selling a carefully selected choice of wines from the area. The house also offers its services to companies allowing for meetings or company stays for up to 20 people. The price shown is for a standard double room with bath, two/ seven night´s bed and breakfast.

Two large, connected living rooms situated in the former cellars of the house on the ground floor. The main lounge has various areas with sofas, armchairs, and a fireplace. The other lounge is situated in a conservatory with a large sky light and has direct access to the garden. The restaurant is situated in the former kitchen of the house, which conserves the old entrance to the bread oven and a large fireplace. There is also an extension to the restaurant which is located in the old wine press. In the summer there is a part of the garden which is converted into an open air dining space. The bedrooms are distributed in various parts of the house. In the garden the old caretaker's wine cellar (Celler de Cal Masover) has two bedrooms (one twin and one double) and a bathroom ( ideal for families). On the ground floor of the main building a double room which also has a private living room which can house two extra beds if necessary (El Celler). Double rooms with two floors (Cup de Raig) on the ground floor the bathroom and the bedroom on the upper floor. ON the first floor are the rest of the bedrooms, three in all with en suite bathroom and some of which can be added an extra bed. Central heating.

Within 60km from the house there are a wide range of activities on offer taking in the scenery, heritage, sports, visits to wine cellars, beaches, excursions on foot or mountain bike concerts at the Auditori Pau Casals, historic sites such as the Monastery of Santes Creu, or traditional local celebrations. Visits to the parish museum of St Jaume dels Domenys, the remains of the Roman aqueduct, and the modernist wine cellars of St Llorenç del Penedès. Tarragona, rich in architectural heritage and with its historic centre is only a 25 minute drive. House also well situated for a day out at Port Aventura theme park.
